Kyrio [kyr' i o] is a blog by Kyra Aylsworth.
The name ‘Kyrio’ came from a word that I found in a gigantic Webster’s Twentieth Century dictionary (unabridged is an understatement) from 1937. I wanted my blog to somehow include my name but didn’t think www.kyraaylsworth.com would be very catchy. When I found the word ‘kyriolexy’, and read its definition, I thought it fit. It means:To speak in plain, rather than figurative language.
All I can do is try.
Kyrio rhymes with ‘Cheerio’ and also sounds like ‘curio’ which means: Something unusual that is collected.
This is the place, then, where I try to speak clearly about unusual things that I encounter and collect.
