Sharp Ladies Night in High Def

Last night we put on an event called Sharp Ladies Night in High Def. I haven’t really blogged directly about what I do for a living here, but after such a fine soiree – I can’t help it. It started as a simple enough idea: Invite women out for a special evening of high-def discussion.

Big ticket consumer electronics are often marketed to men by men. Yet women have enormous buying influence, even if they aren’t the TV go-to person in their household. We thought that an event like this could help Sharp connect with a largely untapped market segment and we wanted to help women in media learn what to look for in a TV because women buy TVs (and DVD players and PVRs), too. Obviously.

The look and feel of the invite: Ladies Night Invite

And we had a fantastic turn out, actually! It might not seem like that much fun – learning about TV (which I never seem to have the time to watch anyway) but it was nice to have things explained in a relaxed, cocktail-swirling environment. Organizing events can be stressful endeavours, but it’s great when they turn out so well.

Did I mention we gave away TWO amazing prizes? Congratulations to Eden Spodek and Margaret L. Bream who both walked away with Sharp AQUOS TVs and Blu-ray DVD players. Nice one!

Here’s Christine Persaud’s post about the event on her Marketnews Gagdet Talk Blog.
